Without specifying the name of the candidate, referring to the great favorite Klaus Iohannis, Cristoiu says: "the candidate who will be ranked in the first position necessarily needs publicity", accusing a fake news campaign regarding the presence at the vote.
"At the present time there is an advertising diversion in favor of a candidate who exaggerates the attendance to vote. The candidate who will be ranked in the first position necessarily needs advertising like "I won under the conditions under which …". Not true. Calculations show that attendance was weaker than in 2014, which was weaker than in 2009 or 2004.
It is very important to show this. The historical score that is expected from a particular candidate is not really historical. There is an interest in this. What a special presence? It is below 50%. And if it were 50%, it is the weakest presence in presidential elections, ”Cristoiu told Romania TV.
Asked what the purpose of this manipulation was, Ion Cristoiu said: "One of the candidates wants to win as Ceausescu, en fanfare (no. – in big style)".
