Huawei Y9s: mid-range with Google applications; personal opinions

Here is Huawei Y9s opinions and price Romania. We are kicking off this new week of November with a recently released Huawei smartphone.

To be honest, we have a weakness for the Chinese manufacturer's phones. Every time we have to write an article about a Huawei device, we do it with great pleasure and enthusiasm (maybe enthusiasm is a lot said πŸ™‚).

We do not want to keep you in suspense and we mention that today's article is focused exclusively on the recent Y9s. Before putting some of the key hardware points of the device in the foreground, we have three details for you (hopefully new ones).

According to the Y9s designation, the smartphone appears to be an upgraded version of the Y9 2019 handset (it officially debuted in October 2018). For the most part, it is. Both phones are based on the Huawei Kirin 710 chipset. However, the new device brings various welcome hardware upgrades.

Another interesting aspect (we think) is the striking resemblance (the term is a bit exaggerated, but it seems to be appropriate πŸ™‚) with the Honor 9X Pro smartphone.

There is only one hardware difference between the devices, which is a major difference. After looking carefully at the specifications, I discovered that there are differences on the connectivity side. So we have two different aspects πŸ™‚

The Honor terminal is powered by the Huawei Kirin 810 chipset. In addition, the Honor 9X Pro is only available in the Chinese market. This makes us believe that the Y9s is the rest of the world version of the 9X Pro smartphone.

The third (and last) specification is about price. The smartphone has a catalog price of $ 239 and is currently only available in the Middle East (Iraq).

We believe that Huawei will launch the device soon for buyers in Europe (implicitly Romania). In this context, we can expect the price of the device to be 239 euros (about 1200 lei). Maybe the price from us in the country will get some additions and the final cost will go up to 1400 lei.

# Huawei Y9s opinions and price – According to the pictures on the official site, yes. I studied this issue in more depth and gave an article published by the Polish site

From what we managed to understand (Google Translate), Honor 9X Pro (after which Y9s is based) is a phone that has received Google certification.

This happened before Huawei received the US government's ban on using Google services. Due to the somewhat minor differences between the Y9s and the Honor 9X Pro, the Y9s probably took the certification issued to the Honor smartphone.

And now we turn our attention to the coolest hardware

# Huawei Y9s reviews – Pop-up selfie camera and fingerprint scanner on the side

Like the Huawei P Smart Z smartphone, the new Y9s has a pop-up selfie camera. It comes with a 16-megapixel sensor. Interesting and cool πŸ™‚

On the official site it is mentioned that the front camera has AI beauty technology (intelligent beauty), which delivers beautiful selfies even in low light conditions. Given the quality of Huawei products, we have no reason to doubt the manufacturer's claims πŸ™‚

As a personal opinion, we like this type of design with the selfie pop-up camera. It allows a truly Full Screen display. The larger the display, the better πŸ™‚

We leave the selfie camera and head towards the right side of the smartphone. Here is the fingerprint scanner, which is nothing unusual. We had the opportunity to test the Motorola Moto Z3 Play, a smartphone that has a fingerprint sensor placed on the side.

What's interesting about the Huawei terminal is that the fingerprint scanner is embedded in a physical button, which then presses the device on / off. Tare πŸ™‚

# Huawei Y9s Reviews – Fast storage, lots of memory and high capacity battery

Given that the terminal is based on the Honor 9X Pro, most likely the new Y9s has UFS 2.1 storage inside. That's a big plus πŸ™‚ Other obvious pluses are the 6GB RAM + 128GB ROM combo and the generous 4000mAh battery (USB C charging).

So far all good and beautiful πŸ™‚ The aspect that we do not like about the battery is the 5V / 2A 10W charging. This is not fast charging πŸ™ But it is not surprising that the device lacks fast charging. And the Honor 9X Pro model, after which it is based, has 10W charging.

# Huawei Y9s reviews – Premium design, good display and triple main camera (with 48MP sensor)

Huawei has specialized in making some very elegant phones and the new device is no exception to the rule πŸ™‚ The back of the device (made of glass) has intense curves on both sides and the frame (we suspect it is made of metal) comes with a slim profile.

The front is as elegant as the rear and this is due to the large display with no thick edges and notch. Excellent πŸ™‚

By the way, it doesn't just sit on the design side. The display has some specifications that can be characterized as solid. Nothing surprising from a mid-range Huawei πŸ™‚ terminal

We have LTPS TFT LCD panel with 6.59 inches, 91 percent screen-to-body ratio, FHD + resolution (2340 Γ— 1080 pixels) and a bit below 400PPI (391).

And now it's the turn of the main room. We assure you that it is worth it πŸ™‚ The camera has a triple photo setup and some attractive features. The camera module (which sits elegantly on the glass back) houses the trio of 48MP + 8MP sensors (120-degree ultra-wide sensor) + 2MP (bokeh sensor).

# Huawei Y9s opinions – The 48-megapixel model is the Sony IMX586, the same engine that powers the dual-camera system of the Motorola One Vision smartphone. We remind you that we had the One Vision terminal under test and the review made by us can be read here.

The triple camera of the Huawei smartphone has on board good features like PDAF (fast focus), AI technology, LED flash, Night Mode function (night shooting), video stabilization function, 1080p video 30fps etc.

Huawei Y9s Reviews – A SHORT OBSERVATION

The connectivity part of the device is not at all like that of the Honor 9X Pro (which has Bluetooth 5.0, 802.11 WiFi a / b / g / n / ac). Note that the Y9s is sticking to 802.11 ac WiFi, which is a minus.

The new Huawei Y9s is a good mid-range, but the handset lacks some important things and this is hard to ignore. Let's just say we can overlook the lack of dual-band WiFi.

However, the phone does not have a powerful / modern mid-range chipset and the lack of fast charging does not leave a good impression.

Besides, we don't know how long Huawei will go with the launch of new devices based on terminals that already have Google certification. There are high chances that Google will stop delivering services to these new devices.
