"Kittens", not "Tigraic": CSM – Esbjerg, a bitter disappointment. How Cristina Neagu played and what her figures say

CSM Bucharest has started to miss again, just now when it can use Cristina Neagu, returned to the field after a serious accident.

After another wrong step in the National League, on Wednesday, in the match with Corona Brasov (30-30), on Sunday, came the first defeat of the Champions League this season. With three wins and a draw in the first four Group B matches, a balance that included a victory in Denmark, with Esbjerg, score 24-22, CSM was considered a big favorite. Unfortunately, the "Tigra" turned into "kittens" and disappointed the fans!

And the match was a bad one for CSM, head-to-tail. The handball players prepared by Adrian Vasile led once, with 1-0! In the first half, at one point, Esbjerg had five goals ahead: 11-6! Even though CSM equalized, 11-11, at the break, the entire Danish group led: 13-12.

At the resumption, the same story. The score was equal only twice, at 13-13 and at 14-14. Otherwise, Esbjerg was always in charge of the party and in the end he prevailed, even without emotions: 25-21. Thus, the two points related to the victory will be taken by Esbjerg in the Main Group, which will ease the Danish mission in the perspective of qualifying in the quarters.

As for CSM Bucharest, the "Tigra" have 7 points, but only 3 for the next phase, all of which reached thanks to the success with Esbjerg on the move and the draw with Rostov-Don on their own ground. The four points won with Perla Lublin do not matter, as the Polish team will be eliminated after this phase of the competition.

In order to increase its dowry points in order to participate in the Main Group, CSM Bucharest has one more chance: the trip with Rostov-Don, scheduled for next Saturday.

Neagu, far from the optimal shape

In the third game since returning to the field, Cristina Neagu (31 years) did not shine in the meeting with Esbjerg. The left-hander scored only three goals from eight shots, obviously being far from optimal. Which is understandable, given the fact that Neagu was missing a year after the terrible accident he suffered in the national jersey, in December 2018.

In the match with Esbjerg, for CSM they scored: Torstensson (1), Lekici (2), Neagu (3), Cvijic (4), Omoregie (5), Pintea (2), Chiper (3), Grbici (1).
