Munich will host the second European multisport that bother the IOC

The German city of Munich will host the second edition of the 2022 European Championships, after being unanimously designated by the continental federations of athletics, cycling, golf, gymnastics, rowing and triathlon.

The appointment, which will be held from Thursday 11 to Sunday, August 21, 2022, will coincide with the 50th anniversary of the Munich Olympics'72 and it will have the Olympic Park of the German city and its surroundings as the center of the competitions.

However, this multisport competition bothers the IOC, as it rivals the European Games that are organized under the umbrella of the European Olympic Committees in pre-Olympic years and that this 2019 were played in Minsk.

The European Multisport Championships were held for the first time in Glasgow Y Berlin in 2018, with 13 sports disciplines, after several European federations saw their titles threatened by the presence of the European Games.

The board of the 2022 European Championships confirmed in a statement the election of Munich and its association with Eurovision Sports, division of the European Broadcasting Union (EBU), for the open coverage of the event for all the chains and partners that are part of it.

"The goal is to create a unique event feeling that allows athletes of different sports to experience the championship together and visitors to enjoy the greater number of tests possible, "he said in it.
