About the release of his new movie, "J'Accuse", Roman Polanski receives new rape charges, writes News.ro.

French actress Valentine Monnier (62) accused Roman Polanski of raping her in 1975 when they were at a ski resort in Gstaad (Switzerland).

Monnier, whose film activity spanned five years, between 1980 and 1985, told Le Parisien that the director raped her when she was 18 years old. The publication noted that she had talked to several of the woman's entourage and that they confirmed that she had told them about the incident shortly after it happened.

The actress said she was urged to speak now because next week will be released in France Polanski's newest film, "J'Accuse", which was rewarded this year in Venice with the Grand Jury Prize and benefited from favorable critics.

"Rape is a time bomb. The memory doesn't go away. Become a ghost and follow and change yourself without realizing it, "said Monnier, quoted by Variety. "I denounce this crime knowing that there will be no punishment, in an attempt to end security. Public personalities are considered role models. By idolizing the guilty, we prevent people from realizing the consequences of their deeds, ”she continued.

Monnier recounted that he did not personally know the filmmaker when he agreed to go skiing and stay in his cabin with a group of friends in the winter of 1975. This was alleged by him, raped and, moreover, the woman claims that Polanski tried to give him a pill.

"It was extremely violent. He hit me, beat me until I surrendered, and then he raped me and satisfied all kinds of fantasies with me. I had just turned 18, "Monnier told Mirror.

The same source notes that he feared he might die because Polanski was already famous and thought he would keep his secret by killing her.

Polanski's French lawyer, Hervé Témime, told Le Parisien that the filmmaker vehemently denies the accusations and condemns the publication of the accusations after 44 years, about to launch the film.

Polanski will not have to deal with justice following this disclosure, because in France the prescription of criminal liability takes place after 20 years.

In 1977, the director was arrested and charged with drugging and raping Samantha Geimer, then 13 years old. Polanski pleaded guilty to sexual intercourse with a minor, was evaluated psychiatricly and spent 42 days in prison. A year later, however, when he learned that the judge wanted him sentenced to 50 years in prison, the filmmaker fled to Paris. Since then, he is in exile. In 2018, he was excluded from the American Film Academy.

In 2010, British actress Charlotte Lewis blamed Roman Polanski for raping her in Paris in 1983 when she was 16 years old. In 2017, two other women accused him of rape.

Roman Polanski, born August 18, 1933, is one of the most esteemed directors, filmmakers and screenwriters in the world. He is the author of the film "The knife in water", the first Polish feature film nominated for an Oscar in the category The best foreign movie, as well as some reference films for the film industry, such as "Repulsion", "Foundation", "Rosemary's Child", "Chinese Neighborhood", "Pianist" and "Venus dressed in furs". He received five Oscar nominations – once winning this trophy – and was rewarded with three BAFTA awards, a Golden Globe, eight César awards and the Palme d'Or trophy.
