The polls closed and the first exit-poll results were announced. According to these data, Klaus Iohannis obtained just under 40% of the votes cast in the country. Beside him, in the second round, the polling institutes place Viorica Dancila, which would have obtained around 22 percent. USR PLUS Alliance candidate Dan Barna is behind the PSD boss, with about 16%.

We mention that these are the estimates only for the vote in the country. In the diaspora over 660,000 Romanians voted.The BEC accredited institutes for both presidential tours are CURS and Avangarde, which have united their information in a single exit-poll, and IRES.

The Center for Urban and Regional Sociology (CURS) was purchased in 2017 by journalist Iosif Buble, founder of the site Stiripesurse.ro. The Group of Vanguard Socio-Behavioral Studies is owned by Marius Pieleanu. The Romanian Institute for Evaluation and Strategy (IRES) is owned by Vasile Dancu.

The sample for the exit poll consists of 400 polling stations. The number of interviewees is over 22,000. The share of refusals to answer the questionnaire is about 19%. Considering the weight of refusals and other difficulties encountered in the polling stations, independent of the polling institutes, the assumed margin of error foreseen for the survey conducted in the sample of polling stations in Romania is +/- 2.5%.
