Salvamento Marítimo has shared the images of the spectacular rescue device that allowed the successful evacuation of 22 people trapped in a cave in Jávea. The rescued had taken refuge in the Cova del Llop Marí located in this town forced by the worsening of maritime conditions while practicing paddle surfing.
The Helimer 202 of Maritime Rescue, a helicopter specialized in rescues, was located a few meters from the huge stone wall on which the cave is located in a complex operation that lasted for several hours.
The images show the difficult descent of the operators at the entrance of the cave and how they climb the rescued in metal baskets equipped for rescue, all this complicated by the poor visibility of the night and the raging sea.
In a second video broadcast by social networks, it is observed as the operation formed by different specialized units move a person to a boat of marine rescue. The device was attended by the Geas (Underwater Activities Group) and the Greim (Special Rescue Group for Mountain Intervention) of the Civil Guard.
In addition, the operation was coordinated from a command post formed by the Local Police, the Civil Guard, the firefighters of the Alicante Consortium, the Red Cross and Civil Protection.
