Elections in the United Kingdom. Nationalists won, for the first time, more mandates than unionists in Northern Ireland

Northern Ireland has for the first time elected more nationalists than unionists for the London parliament in the UK's parliamentary election on Thursday, reports Reuters.

Thus, the Irish nationalist party Sinn Fein and the pro-Irish SDLP obtained together nine of the 18 mandates allocated to Northern Ireland, while the Democratic Unionist Party (DUP) obtained eight mandates, out of the ten that it had. so far in the parliament of the United Kingdom.

A mandate was won by the Alliance Party (cross-community).

According to the partial results, the Conservative Party obtained 363 of the 650 mandates in the House of Commons, the Labor Party 203 mandates, the Scottish National Party (SNP) 48 mandates, the Liberal-Democratic Party 11 mandates, DUP eight mandates, Sinn Fein seven mandates, Plaid Cymru four mandates, SDLP two mandates and Greens one mandate.
