The Governing Board of the Madrid City Council authorized this Thursday the works contract for the construction of the Pitis deterrent parking, in the Mirasierra neighborhood.
As reported by the municipal spokeswoman, Inmaculada Sanz, at the press conference after the Board, this car park, located in the district of Fuencarral-El Pardo, will be the first to be executed of the 14 parking lots planned during the term.
The City Council, through the Area of Environment and Mobility, directed by Borja Carabante, has allocated more than 2.4 million euros (2,439,379) of expense to undertake the works. An execution period of eight months is planned for this new infrastructure to be enabled.
The Pitis car park is projected on an intermodal transport zone, in two plots divided by the exchanger, but both located in the street of Gloria Fuertes.
It will be built next to the station subway and surroundings, where the underground line 7 (Pitis-Hospital del Henares) converges, with the suburban lines C-3 (El Escorial-Aranjuez), C-7 (Fuente de la Mora-Alcalá de Henares) and C-8 (El Escorial / Cercedilla-Guadalajara) and the bus lines of EMT 49 (Plaza de Castilla-Pitis) and 46 (Glorieta de Cuatro Caminos-Arroyo Fresno).
The total number of parking spaces in the Pitis car park rises to 455, of which 399 are for passenger cars, 34 for motorcycles, 12 for adapted vehicles, 10 for electric vehicles, and different spaces for parking bicycles are also reserved. By 2020, the construction of the car parks of Fuente de la Mora, Aravaca, Canillejas, Spanish Aviation, Mar de Cristal and Villaverde Bajo-Cruce has also been budgeted.
