Prosecutors request twenty years in prison for C.F.M., the 38-year-old man accused of killing his mother with a lethal dose of barbiturates, putting cotton in his mouth and nose and covering his face with a pillow. It will be judged on the 12th in Valladolid and the oral hearing will be held at the Provincial Court, through the popular jury system.
The events occurred on January 29, 2018. The 71-year-old victim had suffered an ischemic infarction in 2015 and remained in bed or in a wheelchair during the interim conclusions of the Public Ministry. The defendant resided with her and began to devise his death in January 2018, because his daily care "was a burden on him," according to the Prosecutor's Office.
Around 3:00 p.m. on the 29th he began to supply his mother with a lethal dose of barbiturates, in particular codeine, and some other substances. The woman took them without knowing that she was ingesting different drugs and in amounts greater than those prescribed, according to the prosecutor, and since she did not die, she placed cottons in her mother's mouth and nose, fixed with adhesive tape, and covered her the face with the pillow to accelerate his death.
The prosecutor explains how, after death, the defendant went to Benidorm and stayed at a hotel, where he left notes in visible places announcing his intention to commit suicide. The hotel employees who saw the notes called the police, who managed to stop the man, who in turn confessed that he had killed his mother at home, where agents found the violent death.
