Apple always generates excitement with its news, and the sale of the powerful and ambitious Mac Pro corroborates the trend. The new computer surprises first of all for its author design, feeling focused on its case, and its price more than prohibitive: the tower model and the rack model start at a price of 6,499 and 7,199 euros, respectively, and with successive à la carte configurations can exceed 63,000 euros.
Its dizzying cost and the benefits and amplifications that it underlines that it is a product focused primarily on professionals and companies. It is similar to the Pro Display XDR screen also now available and that constitutes a complement that supposes a minimum outlay of 5,499 euros extra.
The Mac Pro is conceived "by and for performance", Apple reports on its website, since the aforementioned aluminum housing (There are those who in networks have compared it with humor with a kitchen grater) can be removed to have 360 degrees of access to its components and configure the equipment as one wishes. Its design, highlights the company, is governed by ‘from the inside out’ in order to offer flexibility and maximum utility.
The cover (with stainless steel handles, upper ports and the possibility of including wheels to facilitate the transfer) transcends the decorative and, in addition to providing rigidity to the structure, creates (together with the fans, the extractor and the internal ducts) areas with different pressure to maximize the thermal capacity of the system. Its fabric is inspired by the structures of molecular crystals: a network of three-dimensional interlaced hemispheres increases the surface area, which optimizes air flow and structural rigidity.
This top performance team has a Intel Xeon W processor whose configuration includes 8, 12, 16, 24, and up to 28 cores. ‘Customization’ extends as is logical to memory (with six channels of ultrafast ECC memory and twelve physical DIMM slots supports up to 1.5TB) and graphics (with two MPX modules and up to four GPUs).
The Pro Display XDR monitor
Apple has launched in parallel as an ideal complement to Pro Display XDR, a 32-inch 6K retina display with dynamic range and up to 1,600 nits of brightness. He Standard glass model reaches 5,499 euros and nanotextured glass, 6,499 euros, quantities to which the Pro Stand (1,099 euros) and the VESA mounting adapter (219 euros) must then be added.
